The 2021 Bob Barrette Memorial Ryder Cup took place this past weekend at the Spruce Needles Golf Club where the 3-time defending champions claimed their 4th straight Bob Barrette Memorial Ryder Cup with a convincing 15.5pts – 8.5pts victory.

The Ryder Cup consists of three different sessions seeing players compete in three different formats; Best Ball, Alternate Shot & Singles.

Team Hollinger fell behind in the early Best Ball session trailing their Spruce competitors 5 to 1 with the lone point coming from Owen Rigg and standout junior Ryan Koski. Needing a big outing during the Alternate Shot format, Spruce Needles kept up their great play and limited Team Hollinger to half a point courtesy of Hollinger Senior Club Champion Dave MacInnes and Steve Coutts.

It was all but over heading into Sundays Singles format with Team Hollinger needing nothing short of a miracle. Hollinger would go on to win the singles format by a score of 7 to 5 with points from Mike Bilodeau, Chris Cooke, Dave MacInnes, Owen Rigg, Cory Hofferd, Cory Columbus and John Elliott but would ultimately come out on the losing end to the hands of a strong Spruce Needles squad for a 4th consecutive year.

The Hollinger would like to thank the Spruce Needles Golf Club for their hospitality throughout the weekend and congratulate both teams on a great weekend of competitive golf.

The Hollinger Golf Club will play host to the 2022 Bob Barrette Memorial Ryder Cup and seek to end a 4-year losing skid on home turf.
